The thing with Kira Yukimura shows so clearly that few shows are about story telling anymore. I mean, SO MUCH could have been done with her and her family and that awesome kitsune storyline.
But does TW focus on it? Nope. It rather kicks her out and keeps around St!les, a plain human who does little to nothing to the story telling. I want Kira and learning to control her powers! I want hellhound!Parrish, who by no means is useless (like St!les), I want him and Lydia to intensify their bond. I don’t care for the original cast stuff people are after…if you bring in such cool characters, keep working with them!
But nah, let’s kuck off the badass kitsune.
And bait some useless St!dia instead.
I’m honestly flabbergasted and insulted that the writers didn’t have “room” for Kira, like they couldn’t come up with any new storylines for her or some shit, when they’ve barely scratched the surface of kitsune mythology and there’s enough left to fuel at least a whole other season
but who cares about that, let’s have more of Stiles making puppy dog eyes at Lydia while she’s bleeding out on a hospital bed.
Ignoring that Lydia has no romantic interest in Stiles is misogynistic.
Reducing Lydia’s to Stiles’ love interest and little plaything is dehumanizing.
Saying that Stiles was the first one to acknowledge Lydia’s true intelligence is simply wrong. It was Allison who first noticed that Lydia pretended to be dumb to curry Jackson’s favor.
Conveniently forgetting that Stiles called Lydia “soulless” and “evil” is misogynistic.
Romanticizing Stiles constantly touching Lydia, yelling at her, acting possessive of her, and his initial obsession with her is misogynistic.
Glorifying the scene in which Lydia kisses Stiles to alleviate his panic attack makes no sense. I have anxiety, and I’ve gotten many panic attacks before. Kissing someone while they have an attack makes no sense. When I have panic attacks, I don’t think of wanting to be hugged or kissed. In fact, I don’t want people near me at all when I’m hyperventilating.
Pitting Lydia and Malia against each other is misogynistic. Lydia is never jealous of anyone. She is confident and loves herself and other girls very much. In canon it is obvious that Lydia and Malia love each other very much, and that Lydia isn’t “jealous” of Malia.
It is insulting to ignore that Stiles and Malia are dating.
Glorifying basic decency by fawning over Stiles “holding open the door for Lydia” is pathetic. Doing nice, polite things for your closest friends isn’t romance - it’s called friendship and the kindness that comes with it. Lydia has done that and more for the people she loves. Where are all the gifsets of that?
Calling Lydia “Stiles’ girl” is misogynistic and dehumanizing.
Lydia herself says that she won’t allow men to reduce her into neurotic messes. Lydia herself says that she’s done with teenage boys. Why are you ignoring that? Why deliberately mischaracterize such a beautiful, independent, brilliant, well-written, well-developed queen when you can love and appreciate her without adding fuckboy Stilinski into the mix?
Calling Marrish a one-sided pairing is ignorant, considering Lydia is very, very interested in Parrish.
In short: stop reaching so hard. Some pairings weren’t meant to be, especially considering that Lydia hasn’t displayed any romantic interest in Stiles throughout the entirety of Teen Wolf.
Stiles being an asshole over actual problems that are a huge struggle for people. I like Stiles, but lately I’ve been annoyed with how he’s been written. Poking fun at the kid who’s just been told he has a mental disorder isn’t funny, i don’t see how in any way that would be funny.
Or when Isaac spoke about abuse, which scars you forever by the way. Memories stay with you forever
and this. Because this is a serious struggle for Liam, mentally, and Stiles is over there being sarcastic, and rude about it. I get that’s his character, but seriously come on.
